4. Water Quality (CLS)
Snapshot Day & Hotspots (proposed by Lori Lilly, Center for Watershed Protection)
• Examples of other Snapshot-like Days:
http://water.epa.gov/type/rsl/monitoring/upload/volmon21no1.pdf &
http://montereybay.noaa.gov/getinvolved/volunteer/snapshotday.html
• Lori plans to talk to AWS and get back to Corinne since they were also listed as partners in
the grant application.
• Corinne will ask Lori for the following info (which she’ll likely know after talking to AWS):
exact day in May 2014, how many FOSC reps are needed, if she’s OK with only surveying
Montgomery County’s Sligo (NH Ave border), and we are OK with this being an adult-only
event- but may we also invite high school students (16 and up) since they need volunteer
hours?
• Corinne will ask Lori for a proposal that should include all the info in the above bullet so we
know what we are getting into. Also, how she thinks hotspots could be monitored in the
future would also be helpful.
• Once the date is planned, Corinne and/or Lori Lilly will need to contact Henry Coppola
(Parks’ Volunteer Services & Community Partnerships Coordinator) and DEP. We likely
need a permit.
• Corinne or Lori Lilly will contact Patton Stephens (FOSC) and potentially DEP and/or Parks
about insurance for the Snapshot Day
